JoshAppFilm with dense factual material you have to be both rigorous and able to discard/follow instinct. we did have a remit to represent. #scriptchat -8:43 PM Aug 5th, 2012

JoshAppFilm ...and we created 2-3 composite characters from the 10 or so histories. then i wrote the screenplay, condensing more detail. #scriptchat -8:42 PM Aug 5th, 2012

teenierussell How did you find directing Rufus Stone when there was already so much factual material available? I mean, was it hard to come up #scriptchat -8:39 PM Aug 5th, 2012

JoshAppFilm because visual storytelling is likewise about perspective, gaze/desire, mood, relationship to others and enviornment etc. #scriptchat -8:39 PM Aug 5th, 2012

teenierussell @JoshAppFilm I've heard a lot that one should stick to genre and specialise but agree 100% about wanting to explore other genres #scriptchat -8:08 PM Aug 5th, 2012

JoshAppFilm ...but a shame because i always feel good comedy has lot of reality and good "dark" stuff has humour -cf hitchcock, polanski etc #scriptchat -8:08 PM Aug 5th, 2012

JoshAppFilm You especially see a big comedy vs other genres divide. Partly cos of tradiions of writer-performers and tv in comedy... #scriptchat -8:07 PM Aug 5th, 2012

JoshAppFilm but aesthetically its very satisfying at least for me to be able to explore different and new genres and keep learning that way. #scriptchat -8:06 PM Aug 5th, 2012

JoshAppFilm can be a little tricky because producers think "are you x o are you y" and in a crowded commercial market its easier to pigeonhl #scriptchat -8:06 PM Aug 5th, 2012
