Scriptchat TOPIC: Screenwriting Rules You CAN Break
Scriptchat is delighted to have Pilar Alessandra @onthepage, guesting at both our EURO and USA slots Sunday, December 19th, 2010.
Screenwriters are constantly given a list of "dont's." But, there may be more grey areas than you think. Pilar will discuss creative ways to think differently and even break the old screenwriting rules ... so that your script doesn't paint by numbers.
PILAR ALESSANDRA is the director of the Los Angeles writing program "On the Page" www.onthepage.tv. She’s worked as Senior Story Analyst for DreamWorks and Radar Pictures and has trained writers at ABC/Disney, MTV/Nickelodeon, the National Screen Institute, the Los Angeles Film School, The UCLA Writers Program and more. Her students and clients have sold to Disney, DreamWorks, Warner Brothers and Sony and have won prestigious competitions such as the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition and the Nicholl Fellowship. She hosts a weekly screenwriting podcast called “On the Page” and her book “The Coffee Break Screenwriter” is available in bookstores and on Amazon. Recently, Pilar was named "Cream of the Crop" in Creative Screenwriting Magazine's script consultant survey.
Pilar will host two Los Angeles-based classes in January: "Six Steps to a Screenplay," running January 8 - February 12 and a Webisode Workshop co-taught by Mark Gantt, January 5 - February 8. To sign up for a class or to schedule a consultation, go to www.onthepage.tv
Join us Sunday at either EURO time, 8pm GMT, or the USA time, 8pm EST, and show Pilar the Scriptchat community love!
