Writing Duo Matthew Barry and Kayleigh Llewellyn join Euro Scriptchat on Sunday 28th of April 2013

Euro Scriptchat are thrilled to be joined by 2012 BAFTA Rocliffe Forum winners Matthew Barry (@mjbarry101) and Kayleigh Llewellyn (@KayDLlew) on Sunday the 28th of April 2013. The duo that won the competition with sitcom GREY will be chatting to us about writing Pilots.

Matthew was part of the BBC Writers Academy in 2010 and is a Broadcast Hotshot of 2011. He has written for EASTENDERS and DOCTORS and is currently writing for HOLBY CITY, CASUALTY and WATERLOO ROAD.

Matthew and Kayleigh’s original returning series GREY has been optioned by Company Pictures and is currently in development with BBC One. Matt and Kayleigh’s second project, MARKET, is currently in development with Objective Productions. ALLEN, Matt’s original returning series, is currently in development with Red Production Company for Channel 4. Red has also optioned his 1950s series, THE CAMEO, about the emergence of the first teenagers. His political thriller, THE COMMON AIDE, is in development with Fiction Factory for BBC Wales.

Matt’s first original mini-series, PERFECT SUMMER, for Fiction Factory/BBC was nominated for a Welsh BAFTA. He has worked on the online project ZEITGEIST for Red Production Company/Numiko Ltd and co-developed the scripted reality show, BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS with Boomerang. His original series FRIENDS OF DOROTHY was developed with Red Production Company and his original children’s drama series CHARLIE BLAST was optioned by Fiction Factory for CBBC.

Kayleigh trained as an actor at Drama Studio London. She has since split her time between performing professionally and writing. Kayleigh co-created/writes GREY and MARKET with Matt and also pens a regular column for FUNNY WOMAN. Kayleigh and Matt were the recipients of the BAFTA Rocliffe New York 2012 prize and were accompanied by BAFTA to the New York Television Festival where GREY was showcased.

Kayleigh script edited the pilot episode of THE THIRDS for Matthew and was the script consultant on TISSUES & ISSUES, as well as performing the lead role in the taster tape for Fiction Factory.

Matthew and Kayleigh were born and raised in Whitchurch, a quiet village on the outskirts of Cardiff. Famous for it's medium sized Kwik Save ... And pretty much nothing else. The two met in high school aged 11, and immediately bonded over their mutual love of Titanic (the movie), Pat Butcher and their flair for the dramatic.

Over the next seven years Matt and Kayleigh went on to disrupt their English class with countless re-enactments of James Cameron’s blockbuster, drove their Math’s teacher to premature greyness with their incessant (tuneless) singing, and took any and every opportunity to force themselves in to the spotlight in the Drama Studio. Despite their countless misdemeanours, they somehow managed to defy the odds and were crowned Head Boy and Head Girl in the summer of 2003. A glorious reign until Kayleigh was caught red handed by the Headmaster scrawling obscenities across a school notice board... It is so important to lead by example.

As soon as it was humanly possible, they both moved to London, where to this very day, they can still be seen skipping around Soho hand in hand, like a modern day Donny and Marie.

Come join us on Sunday 28th of April at 8pm BST
